Okay, so I’ve been getting really into golf lately. Like, REALLY into it. And naturally, I started wondering about the “majors” – you know, the big-deal tournaments. I heard people talking about them all the time, but I didn’t actually know what they were. So, I decided to do a deep dive, and boy, was it a journey! Here’s how I figured it all out.

My “Majors” Research Journey
First, I just started by, well, asking around. You know, casual conversations with people at the driving range, that sort of thing. I’d be like, “So, uh, what’s the deal with these ‘majors’ everyone keeps talking about?” Most people would mention The Masters or the British Open, but I needed the full picture, the whole shebang.
So, I moved on to the internet, the great information abyss. I just did a simple search. And immediately, I started finding tons of articles and stuff.
I spent a good chunk of an afternoon just reading. And let me tell you, there’s a LOT of information out there! I had a notebook next to me, just scribbling down notes like a madman. Things like:
- The Masters: Played at Augusta National, super exclusive, green jacket, the whole deal.
- PGA Championship: This one seemed to move around to different courses, so that was interesting.
- U.S. Open: Apparently, this one is known for being really tough. Like, brutally difficult courses.
- The Open Championship: Often called the “British Open,” even though, I guess, that’s not the official name. Played on links courses, which, I learned, are these coastal courses with all sorts of crazy wind and weather.
I felt like I had a solid handle on the basics.
The next stage of my quest was to understand what I do next.I looked for some videos. Found some cool highlight reels from past majors, which was awesome. Seeing the pros in action, battling it out on these legendary courses… it definitely gave me a better appreciation for the whole thing.
It’s been a fun ride, learning all this stuff. Now, I want to do it again
