Okay, so I got kinda obsessed with this whole “shortest WWE wrestlers” thing the other day. Wasn’t planning on it, just sort of happened.

How It Started
I was digging through some old wrestling clips, you know, just killing time. Saw this match, can’t even remember which one now, but there was this guy who looked way smaller than everyone else in the ring. Got me thinking, who actually was the shortest dude to ever lace up boots in WWE? My first guess was probably Rey Mysterio, right? He’s famously not tall but does amazing stuff.
The Digging Process
So, I started looking around online. Just typed in the basic stuff first. You get a few names right away, the obvious ones. But then I noticed some lists were different, some heights seemed kinda… well, you know wrestling heights, sometimes they stretch the truth a bit. It wasn’t as simple as I thought.
I decided I needed to go a bit deeper. Started looking at specific time periods, like the Attitude Era, or even way back. Then thought about the Cruiserweights, lots of smaller guys there, but were they the shortest ever? Nah, probably not the absolute shortest.
It got kinda messy. You find names on one fan site, then different info on another. Some guys who were managers or had non-wrestling roles pop up. I wanted actual wrestlers, guys who got in the ring and took bumps. Had to sift through a lot of stuff. I spent a good couple of hours just cross-referencing names and trying to find somewhat reliable heights, which is tough ’cause WWE itself isn’t always consistent with stats.
What I Found (Sort Of)
After all that digging, a few names kept showing up pretty consistently when you talk about the really short wrestlers, the ones who were often part of specific acts or storylines.
- Hornswoggle seemed to be mentioned everywhere. Makes sense, that was his whole deal.
- El Torito, the guy with Los Matadores, also came up a lot.
- There were mentions of others from way back, sometimes guests or special appearances, but tracking down confirmed info was tricky.
Guys like Rey Mysterio, while definitely shorter than average heavyweights, weren’t usually at the very bottom of these lists once you included the guys known specifically for their small stature.
Final Thoughts
Honestly, it took more effort than I expected. Just trying to pin down facts in wrestling can be a rabbit hole. It was interesting, though. Made me appreciate again how guys of all sizes find ways to make it work in that business. Size helps, sure, but it’s definitely not everything. Kinda cool to see the variety over the years.
