Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into Honkai: Star Rail’s Pure Fiction mode, and let me tell you, figuring out the right team comps has been a real journey. I wanted to share my whole process, from scratching my head to finally cracking some decent setups.

My First Attempts (and Failures)
Initially, I just threw in my strongest characters. You know, the ones with the highest levels and best gear. I figured, “Hey, bigger numbers mean more damage, right?” Wrong. So wrong. I got completely wrecked. Enemies kept respawning, and my single-target DPS just couldn’t keep up. It was a mess.
The “Aha!” Moment
Then it hit me: Pure Fiction is all about that sweet, sweet AoE damage. Those enemy waves? They’re relentless. You need characters who can hit multiple targets at once, and hit them hard. So, I started researching.
Building the Dream Teams
My first successful team revolved around Herta and Himeko. I equipped it with follow-up and got some great clear.
- Herta: Her skill and ultimate are AoE, and with the right Light Cones and Relics, she can dish out serious damage. Plus, her follow-up attack is triggered so easily, you can go and watch it.
- Himeko: Same deal. AoE focused, with that awesome follow-up attack when enemies are Weakness Broken. She is the queen of that.
- A Support: At first, I used Tingyun for the extra energy, but later I switched to someone who could buff AoE damage. Experiment with what works best for your specific characters.
- Sustain Character:Someone keep your team alive.A healer or someone who can provide shields.
I spent hours tweaking their gear, finding the right balance of stats. It’s not just about raw attack; things like Break Effect and Energy Regeneration Rate are super important too. I farmed those Relic domains like crazy, trying to get the perfect pieces.
Iteration and Experimentation
But I didn’t stop there. I started experimenting with other characters. For example, I found out that Serval, with her Shock debuff and AoE attacks, could be a beast in the right setup. I paired her with Kafka for the extra * was a learning process. Some combinations worked great, others… not so much. I kept a notebook (yeah, an actual paper notebook!) to track my results. Which teams cleared stages faster? Which ones struggled? It helped me identify what was working and what wasn’t.
Sharing and Getting Feedback
And finally, don’t be shy about sharing with others! I’ve gotten some great ideas from online communities. It’s a collaborative effort, really.
So, that’s my Pure Fiction journey so far. It’s been a lot of trial and error, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding. And remember, the “best” team depends on your specific characters and gear. Keep experimenting, keep tweaking, and most importantly, have fun!
