My Journey Getting Jung Hoo Lee into MLB The Show 23
Alright, so I got the itch the other day. I’d been hearing a lot about Jung Hoo Lee, the Korean outfielder, you know? And I really wanted to try him out in MLB The Show 23. Seemed like a fun project.

First thing I did, obviously, was boot up the game on my console. Went straight over to the main menu stuff. I figured, okay, he’s not gonna be in the default rosters, right? He wasn’t in the MLB yet when this game came out. So, the community vaults seemed like the place to start.
Heading to the Vaults
I navigated over to the ‘Vaults’ section. You got sliders, logos, and the one I needed: Roster Vault. Clicked on that. Then came the searching part. I tried a few things:
- Jung Hoo Lee
- Lee Jung Hoo (sometimes names get flipped)
- KBO
- Korean Players
Spent a good bit of time scrolling through the results. Lots of different rosters people uploaded. Some were total conversions, some just added specific players. I downloaded a couple that looked promising, ones that mentioned KBO imports or had recent-ish update dates.
Checking the Downloads
Loading up the first roster… nope. Couldn’t find him easily in the free agents or on any specific team the creator might have used. Okay, deleted that one. Tried the second one. Bingo! Found a player named Jung Hoo Lee listed in the Free Agents pool. The creator did a decent job, I guess. The face wasn’t perfect, those created faces rarely are, but it kinda looked like him. The stats seemed reasonable too – high contact, good speed, solid fielding. Not crazy power, which felt right based on what I knew.
Could I Do Better? Maybe…
Part of me thought, maybe I should try creating him myself from scratch? You know, really dial in the stance, the equipment, try to nail the face using the creation tools. I even went into the ‘Create’ menu and messed around with the player editor for a bit. But man, that takes forever. Getting the face right is super hard, and assigning stats always feels like guesswork. How do you translate KBO stats perfectly to The Show’s ratings? It’s tough.

The End Result
So, in the end, I decided to stick with the roster I downloaded from the vault. It saved me a ton of time. The guy who made it did most of the heavy lifting. I assigned the created Jung Hoo Lee to the Giants, just for fun, pretending he signed early. Played a few games with him. It felt pretty good! He sprayed the ball around, covered ground in the outfield. It scratched that itch, you know? It wasn’t official, but it was my way of getting the ‘Grandson of the Wind’ into my copy of The Show 23. Pretty satisfying little project, actually.
