That year, 2010, oh boy, that Florida State University football team, they was somethin’ else. Jimbo Fisher, he was the new boss man that year. First year coachin’ them Seminoles. They called ’em Seminoles, you know. That’s what they called that team.
They played them games, and they won a bunch, I tell ya. Ten whole games they won! Four they lost. Still, ten is a lot, you know. And that ACC thing, that’s like, their group they played in, like the neighborhood kids all playin’ together. They won six in that, lost two. Not too shabby, not too shabby at all.
They got this fella, DJ Uiagalelei, he was the quarterback. That’s the one throwin’ the ball all over. But he broke his finger, poor fella. It was broken! Broken finger, that’s what DJ had. Still played though, tough kid.

That gave them their first national rankin’, somethin’ special, you see.
Florida State and this other team, Miami, they got this thing, this rivalry. Like two roosters in the same yard, always peckin’ at each other. Been goin’ on for years. Folks ’round here, they can tell ya ’bout every game, every little thing that happened between them two. Exciting stuff, it was.
That Jimbo Fisher, he was a good one, I reckon. First year and he got them boys to win ten games. Ten games, that’s a lot of football! And they was ranked, too. Number 17, they said. That’s pretty high up there, I’d say.
