Alright, let’s talk about this Texas Rangers team, you know, the baseball fellas. Folks keep askin’, “Who owns them Rangers?” Well, it ain’t a simple thing like ownin’ a chicken coop, I tell ya. It’s a whole bunch of money and big business stuff.

So, from what I hear tell, this fella named Ray Davis, yeah, that’s the name, he’s the big boss man now. He’s got his fingers in all sorts of pies, made a whole heap of money in the energy business, you know, oil and gas and such. Folks say he’s been in that game for forty years or more. He used to be the CEO and chairman of somethin’ called Energy Transfer Partners and Energy Transfer Equity, whatever that means. Sounded important though. He stacked up enough greenbacks to retire back in 2007 with a billion dollars! That’s a whole lot of hay, ain’t it?
Anyways, this Ray Davis fella, he and some other folks, they went and bought the Rangers a while back, around 2010 I think. They called themselves Rangers Baseball Express, fancy name, huh? Before them, there was this other fella, Thomas Hicks, owned the team. And before him, even George W. Bush, you know, the president’s son, he was part owner too, with another fella named Edward Rose. Way back when, a fella named Eddie Chiles owned them. So, this team’s been passed around like a hot potato, it seems.
- Ray Davis – The current big cheese, made his money in energy.
- Rangers Baseball Express – The group that bought the team in 2010.
- Thomas Hicks – Owned the team before Davis.
- George W. Bush and Edward W. Rose – Owned it before Hicks.
- H.E. (Eddie) Chiles – Owned it way back when.
Now, the Rangers, they weren’t always the Texas Rangers, you see. They started way back in 1961, as the Washington Senators, way up in Washington D.C. They played there for a spell, then in 1972, they packed their bags and moved down here to Arlington, Texas. That’s when they became the Texas Rangers. They named ’em after those lawmen, the Texas Rangers, you know, the ones who keep things in line.
So, this Ray Davis guy, he’s the one callin’ the shots now. He’s the one who decides if they need a new player, or if they gotta let some fella go. He’s the one who had to make the decision to fire that manager Chris Woodward and Jon Daniels too. Heard tell he even helped build this fancy new stadium they got over there. It’s a big deal, this baseball team, brings a lot of folks to town, spendin’ their money and such. It’s good for business, they say.
Some folks say Mr. Davis is real quiet-like, doesn’t like to be in the spotlight too much. But he’s the one who owns them Texas Rangers, him and his group. And that’s who you wanted to know about, right? He and some other rich fellas. It’s all a bunch of money if you ask me, more than I can ever imagine. But they play good ball, those Rangers, sometimes, and that’s what matters, I reckon.
So there you have it. Ray Davis, that’s the name you need to know. He’s the owner of the Texas Rangers, leastways for now. Who knows who’ll own ‘em next, these things change all the time, seems like. But for now, it’s Mr. Davis, the energy fella, who’s runnin’ the show. Hope that clears things up for ya.
