Well, lemme tell ya about that Batum feller, he’s somethin’ else. Now, you might be wonderin’ who in the world is Nicolas Batum, right? Well, he’s this tall, lanky fella who can run all around the court like a chicken chasin’ after a worm. Ain’t just tall though, he’s quick on his feet too, like one of them rabbits that dart around the yard when you ain’t lookin’.
Now, I remember back when he was with the Charlotte Hornets, they was real excited about him. Y’know, he re-signed with the Hornets back in 2016, for a fancy five-year contract worth $120 million! Yep, you heard that right, a whole lotta zeroes there! Most folks around town were scratchin’ their heads, tryin’ to figure out how much that even is. But Batum, he didn’t let all that money change how he played the game. Nah, he kept doin’ what he does best: runnin’, jumpin’, and makin’ them shots.
And let me tell ya, he didn’t just play regular, oh no. On December 23, 2016, he went and got himself a triple-double in a game! That means he done scored 20 points, got a bunch of rebounds and assists too. That’s a real good day for any player, especially for someone like him, who ain’t the biggest feller on the court but sure knows how to make things happen.
Folks always say he’s a versatile player, ‘cause he can do a lotta things. He ain’t just a shooter or a passer, he can guard folks too. He can take on different roles, whether it’s runnin’ the ball up the court or guardin’ the other team’s best player. It was like he was reborn when he was playin’ under coach Steve Clifford. You could see he was gettin’ real comfortable in the system, like a farmer gettin’ used to the plow after years of workin’ the land.
Now, I gotta tell ya, he didn’t stay with the Hornets forever. After all them years with Charlotte, he ended up takin’ his talents to the LA Clippers, where he still plays today. And don’t think he ain’t been busy. He’s been workin’ hard all these years, and now folks say he’s plannin’ to retire after the 2024 Paris Olympics. Yup, that’s the word from his wife, so you know it’s true. After all, even the best of ‘em gotta hang up their shoes eventually, right?
But even though he’s gettin’ up there in age, ol’ Batum still brings a lotta value to his team. I reckon he’ll be remembered by folks who seen him play in Charlotte, especially those folks who watched him sign that big contract back in 2016. It was a big ol’ deal, and while some folks wondered if it was worth it, I’d say he proved he was worth every penny with them big performances.
So, that’s the story of Nicolas Batum, that tall fella with the long arms and quick feet. Whether it was for the Hornets or now the Clippers, he sure made his mark in the NBA. Guess he’ll be around a little while longer, but when he’s gone, folks will remember the hustle and the heart he brought to the game.
