Alright, listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this basketball game, the Celtics fightin’ the Timberwolves. I don’t know much about fancy city stuff, but I know a good scrap when I see one. Celtics vs Timberwolves, that’s what they call it. Sounds like a bunch of wild animals goin’ at it, huh?
Now, these Celtics, they some kinda good, I hear. Folks sayin’ they the best team in the whole shebang, got the best record and all. Somethin’ like 48 wins and only 13 losses. That’s a whole lotta winnin’, even I can figure that out. They better than them Timberwolves by a good bit, somethin’ like five or six games, whatever that means.

This game, it was played in Boston, at their place, the TD Garden. I reckon that’s like their home field, where they do all their fightin’. And let me tell ya, them Celtics, they ain’t lost a single game there this whole time! Seventeen and nothin’! That’s like protectin’ your chickens from the foxes, ain’t nobody gettin’ in there and takin’ nothin’. They real tough at home, real tough.
Now, this Tatum fella, he’s somethin’ else. Scored a whole mess of points, 45 they said. Folks were cheerin’ and hollerin’ his name. He was like a rooster in the henhouse, runnin’ around and scorin’ all over the place. He even got some extra points in somethin’ they call “overtime.” I guess that’s like when the fight goes on longer than it’s supposed to. He scored a bunch then too, 12 points, they said.
But them Timberwolves, they didn’t just roll over and die. They put up a good fight, they did. This Edwards boy, he tied the game up at one point, shootin’ some of them free throws. Free throws, that’s like gettin’ a second chance at somethin’ you messed up the first time, I think. Anyway, they kept it close, made it real interestin’.
I heard some folks talkin’ about “odds” and “spreads.” Sounds like somethin’ you do with fertilizer on the farm, but I guess it’s different in basketball. They were sayin’ the Celtics were favored to win, by a lot, like six points, maybe even more. Some other game, they were talkin’ about 16 points! That’s a landslide, ain’t it? Sounds like nobody thought them Timberwolves had much of a chance.
And get this, some folks are already bettin’ on who’s gonna win the whole thing next year, the championship. And wouldn’t you know it, they sayin’ them Celtics are the favorites again. They callin’ ‘em “plus 225” or somethin’ like that. Beats me what that means, but it sounds like people think them Celtics are gonna be hard to beat.
So, the Celtics won this game against the Timberwolves, 127 to 120. It was a close one, even though the Celtics were supposed to win by a lot. They had to work for it, that’s for sure. It wasn’t no walk in the park. They had to fight tooth and nail, like a couple of dogs fightin’ over a bone. But in the end, the Celtics came out on top, just like folks expected. They the top dogs, for now anyways.
Now, I don’t know nothin’ about all that fancy basketball talk, but I know a good team when I see one. And them Celtics, they a good team. They strong, they tough, and they know how to win. They got that fire in their belly, that somethin’ special that makes ’em winners. We’ll see if they can keep it up, but for now, they the best, that’s for sure. And that Tatum fella, he’s somethin’ special. Keep your eye on him, he’s goin’ places.
But you know what they say, anythin’ can happen in a fight. Just ‘cause you the best today, don’t mean you gonna be the best tomorrow. Them Timberwolves, they’ll be back, you can bet on that. They’ll be lookin’ for revenge, and it’ll be another good fight when they meet again. That’s just how it goes, in basketball and in life.
