I remember it was back in 2006, seems like yesterday, but time flies, right? I got into this whole wrestling thing, and it wasn’t long before I came across Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin.

I started digging around, wanting to know everything about them. Found out they first teamed up in Pro Wrestling Zero1-Max. That’s where it all began.
The First Big Win
So, they had this match on August 25, 2006. It was against Minoru Fujita and Ikuto Hidaka. And guess what? They won! They snagged the Zero-1 Max International Lightweight Tag Team Championship. New champs in town! They were on fire!
Holding the Title
For nearly two years, these guys held onto that title. They were the team to beat. But, as it always happens, they eventually lost it back to Fujita, who had teamed up with Takuya.
Joining TNA
Fast forward to 2007, I was following Alex Shelley when he made a big move to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). That’s where he and Chris Sabin really started to shine as a tag team. They called themselves The Motor City Machine Guns. Catchy, huh?
The Motor City Machine Guns Era

- They were all over TNA, winning titles left and right. Both Shelley and Sabin even got their hands on the world title at some point.
- I followed every match, every event. These guys were making history.
- Then there’s this little tidbit I found – they were even on an episode of the MTV series “Made” in 2008. Teaching some kid the ropes of wrestling. How cool is that?
Branching Out
Turns out, wrestling wasn’t their only gig. They formed a rock band called The High Crusade. Yeah, you heard that right. Wrestlers by day, rock stars by night. They even had another wrestler, Petey Williams, in the band.
Debut in WWE
Just this year, in October 2024, they finally made their debut in WWE. It was a long time coming, but they made it. The first team that poped into my head is Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit. They showed up on SmackDown, and man, it was something else. I’ve been waiting for this moment, and it finally happened.
What’s Next?
I’ve been following them from their early days to now, seeing them grow, win, lose, and evolve. It’s been a wild ride. These guys have really left their mark on the wrestling world. And now, they’re in WWE, ready to take on new challenges. Who knows what they’ll achieve next? I, for one, will be watching closely.
So, yeah, that’s my little journey following Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, The Motor City Machine Guns. It’s been a blast, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.
