Alright, let’s talk about them Yankee announcers on that YES channel, you know, the folks who yap on the TV when the baseball game’s on.
Who are these Yankee announcers anyway?
Well, there’s this fella, Michael Kay. He’s a big shot, wins awards and all. He’s the main guy, you know, the one who tells you what’s happening in the game. He does that play-by-play thing. He also talks to people on some show called CenterStage and does other TV specials. Seems like he’s always yappin’ ‘bout somethin’. He’s been around a long time, so I guess he knows his stuff. I reckon he gets paid a whole heap of money for all that talkin’.

Then there’s a whole bunch of other folks, you know, the ones who sit around and talk before and after the game. They got this Paul O’Neill fella, used to play for the Yankees, I think. And a lady named Meredith Marakovits, she’s always around askin’ questions and stuff. They call them the “broadcasters”. Sounds fancy, but all they do is talk about baseball, same as me and my friends down at the diner.

Where can you hear these announcers?
Most of the time, if you wanna hear these folks, you got to watch the YES Network. That’s where they show most of the Yankee games during the regular season. You know, the games they play before the playoffs. But if the Yankees get real good and make it to the playoffs, then they might be on a different channel, like TBS. And if they go all the way to the World Series, well, then everybody and their brother will be watchin’ ‘em, no matter what channel it’s on.
Now, I don’t know much about this YES Network, but it seems like they got more than just baseball. They show all kinds of stuff. They got a whole schedule of shows, you can look it up if you’re interested. Me? I just turn it on when the game is on. I ain’t got time for all that other stuff.
Why do they even have announcers?
Well, I guess somebody’s gotta tell you what’s happenin’ in the game, right? Not everyone knows all them fancy baseball rules. And sometimes, it’s just nice to have someone to listen to, even if you know what’s goin’ on. They make it sound excitin’, even when it’s kinda boring. And they tell you all sorts of things about the players, where they came from, how they’re doin’. It’s like listenin’ to your neighbors gossip, but about baseball players.
Are these announcers any good?
Well, some folks like ‘em, some folks don’t. That’s just the way it is. Me? I think they do a decent enough job. They don’t yell too much, which is good. And they seem to know what they’re talkin’ about, most of the time. Sometimes they say things I don’t agree with, but hey, that’s what makes it interestin’, right? It’s like arguin’ with your family at the dinner table.

If you wanna know more about these announcers, I reckon you can just look ‘em up on that internet thing. Or you can watch the games and listen to ‘em yourself. That’s how I learned about ‘em. Just pay attention when the game’s on, and you’ll figure it out soon enough. It ain’t rocket science, you know. It’s just baseball.
