Module IV: Washroom Care
Washrooms are areas that usually are the most scrutinized by people using the facility. Clean, disinfected and fresh smelling restrooms generate a good feeling by all regarding the maintenance of the facility. Less than ideal conditions generally bring much distress to Building Managers. Washroom care is more than just practical procedures. Chemical applications are vital due to the variety of soils that typically exist in a washroom environment. Proper disinfection procedures are stressed that address issues of overall cleanliness and health. The aim of this module will be improved sanitation levels in the restrooms as well as an increased knowledge in the staff of all the contributing factors that make the program ideal. Elements covered include:
- Disinfection versus sanitation
- Proper procedures
- Essential tools
- Chemical applications (Identification and use)
- Troubleshooting
- Quality control
A valuable approach incorporated into the training is a "goofs and consequences" segment that outlines potential mistakes, the consequences, and the remedies to correct. If the facility does not have all of the necessary equipment to conduct the training, PCS will provide it for use during the session.
