Module III: Carpet Care

Carpet Care

Carpeting is one of the most ignored parts of a maintenance program in many facilities. This is due primarily to the forgiving nature of carpet and the lack of knowledge of an effective program. The aim of this module will be to provide instruction to participants to learn processes and procedures that will improve the overall appearance and longevity of the carpet in their facility. An overview of carpet types and program cost misconceptions begin the training session. Specific areas to be covered include:

  1. Daily routines (vacuuming, proper mat placement)
  2. Spotting
  3. Bonneting applications (interim maintenance)
  4. Pre-spraying and extraction
  5. Soil protection
  6. Troubleshooting
  7. Equipment use

A valuable approach incorporated into the training is a "goofs and consequences" segment that outlines potential mistakes, the consequences, and the remedies to correct. If the facility does not have all of the necessary equipment to conduct the training, PCS will provide it for use during the session.
